Currently, Senior Counsellor, Gaopeng & Partners, Beijing, China;
From 1 August 2002 to 31 December 2020, Mr. Tang was Senior Counsellor, Market Access Division of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and working on issues related to market access for non-agricultural products, trade facilitation, information technology products, and other market access issues related to trade in goods;
From November 1987 to July 2002, Mr. Tang worked as Economic Affairs Officer in the Division on International Trade in Goods and Services, and Commodities (DITC), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on issues relating to trade policy, trade laws and multilateral trade negotiations;
From March 1986 to October 1987, Mr. Tang worked as Economic Affairs Officer in the Manufactures Division of UNCTAD on issues relating to trade policy and multilateral trade negotiations as an expert in international trade in textiles, and subsequently as an economic affairs officer of the International Textiles and Clothing Bureau (ITCB);
From December 1978 – March 1986, Mr. Tang served as a trade official in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), China PR and negotiated China’s accession to the Multi-Fibre Agreement, which was under the auspices of the GATT and involved in the early preparations leading to China’s subsequent accession to the WTO.
