Dato' Seri Wong Siew Hai

Dato’ Seri Wong Siew Hai has 29 years of working experience in the electronics industry. He served Intel for most of his illustrious career and retired from Intel after 27 years of service. His last position with Intel was Vice President of Technology and Manufacturing Group (TMG) and General Manager of Assembly and Test Manufacturing (ATM), responsible for all assembly test factories worldwide. He also served as the Vice President and Managing Director of Dell’s Asia Pacific Customer Centre for approximately 2 years.
Currently, Dato’ Seri Wong is involved in the electronics industry as Champion of the E&E Productivity Nexus (EEPN) and President of the newly formed Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA). He was Chairman of MAEI (Malaysian American Electronics Industry, a committee of AMCHAM) from 2005 till January 2021. He is a Board member of the Penang Tech Centre Bhd and Penang Science Cluster. With the full support of the Penang State Government, he pioneered the set up of Tech Dome Penang, the first science discovery centre in Penang, to inspire children and students to pursue science and engineering. Tech Dome Penang was opened in July 2016 after 5 years of unwavering dedication to the project. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) for 12 years and was Chair of its audit committee. Dato Seri is a member of Pemudah, a special task force comprising of public and private sector to address public delivery effectiveness and to improve Malaysia’s competitiveness. He is a Board Member of MAVCAP since October 2019.
He is a Member of Board of Trustee of Yayasan Universiti Multimedia (YUM) since April 2018 and he was appointed as Adjunct Professor of Multimedia University (MMU) from 2017 to 2020. The Ministry of Higher Education also appointed Dato Seri Wong to be involved in the Academia Industry Talent Exchange Program in 2019 i.e. AIxCHANGE and he is participating in the CEO @ Faculty Program CFP 1.0 with the theme ‘Coached by The Pros’ and the University he is supporting is UNIMAS in Kuching.
He was appointed as a member of the Board of Governor of KDU University College in Kuala Lumpur from 2013 to 2019, and he is now appointed to the Board of Governor of UOW (University of Wollongong) – KDU Malaysia. Dato Seri is also a member of the Board of Governor of MTT Learning Academy since February 2018, which runs the Prince of Wales Island International School and he has been on the school board for a Chinese primary school in Penang for many years. In November 2020, Dato Seri was appointed as Industrial advisor to the MMU’s Bachelor’s of Electronics Engineering program. He was also a former Board member of KUiTTHO (College University Technology of Tun Husssein Onn), Johore.
In 2015, The ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations awarded Dato Seri the ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award in recognition of an outstanding professional whose contributions have made great beneficial impact to the country. He was also awarded the Coach of the Year for the Cradle Growth Program, session 3 2015/2016.
